The pickings are a little slim in Wyoming at Halloween. And if you’re looking for haunted houses in Wyoming, the pickings are even slimmer. There are few family-friendly Halloween attractions in Cheyenne to keep enthusiasts inspired, but if you want to have a truly American experience of fear, then you’ll need to get in the car and drive.

People like to experience fear within a relatively safe context at Halloween because it’s invigorating, especially in the fall, right before winter hits and life-as-we-know-it slows to a crawl against the blisteringly cold winds and snow. That’s why there are so many people looking for haunted houses in Cheyenne, Wyoming especially because that’s the most likely place for haunters to set up shop in the state. And in fact, there is one haunted house in Cheyenne known as Nightmare on 17th Street put on by the Knights of Pythias. This haunt is a fundraiser for the organization that puts it together. Everyone in Cheyenne should go just to support the local haunters, but if you’re in the mood for more, we’d like to recommend School District 13 Haunted Attraction in Brule, Nebraska.

You might be thinking, why not go to Colorado haunted houses? Certainly there are plenty of haunted houses in Denver, or Fort Collins…but Denver and the whole front range suffers from gridlock on the roads. You’d sit in traffic for hours on your way along the front range to one haunted house in Denver or Fort Collins. School District 13 in Brule offers four haunted houses in one location PLUS a haunted corn maze. And that’s not all…the whole town of Brule is haunted. When you get to Brule, you’ll ride the haunted bus or the haunted hay ride to get to the haunted houses. It’s a full-bodied Halloween experience that’s only about 2 hours away from Cheyenne, WY. And because we’re a small town haunt, our lines are a bit shorter and the experience is more organic and people-oriented than what you might experience at Denver haunted houses or haunted houses in Fort Collins, CO.

Many of our patrons at School District 13 come from places like Omaha, Lincoln, Denver, Greeley, or Fort Collins because even though we’re located in a small town, the haunted attraction is huge. You’ll do more than just stand in line all night when you come to School District 13. The whole town is haunted and you’ll likely encounter some zombies or vampires or other creatures of the night as you move from one haunt to another through town via the bus, the hay ride, or walking the sidewalks. We’ve worked hard to capture the essence of Halloween in America so families with kids of all ages can come to the event and have fun. Got teenagers? Send them into the haunts. Got little kids? Ride the Lost Soul Train to go look at decorated homes, visit the Photo Op Forest, and have fun with the ghouls on the haunted bus and on the streets as you walk from place to place.

The trip from Cheyenne, WY to Brule is short. You could easily make the trip to School District 13 in one day, but if you feel up for it, consider stopping at some of the other fun Halloween activities that are happening along I-80 between here and there. You may not have any luck if you’re searching for a fun Wyoming haunted attraction, but don’t worry, there’s Wyoming Halloween Fun just across the border…in Nebraska.
